How to keep your car cool!

Alright, so it’s hot out. I mean, real hot out! And I can’t imagine anything worse than driving along and your car starts to overheat. Just think about it. The temperature in your car reads 98 degrees with a heat index around 110 degrees. Your stepping onto the black, steaming pavement of the highway with the sun beating down on you. You lift the hood of your vehicle and you’ve basically received a free facial. Uggh!

So, why is my car overheating? Obviously, there are more than one possible cause, however ‘antifreeze’ is a popular one. Antifreeze serves two purposes; keeps engine from freezing in the winter and overheating in the summer. It’s main job is to keep temperature level. So, you can imagine what happens if leaking occurs.

So, how do I prevent it from happening to me? Take it to the doctor for a regular checkup. Maintaining your vehicle is like maintaining your body. If you don’t, you will get sick! When you go in for your oil change every 3-5000 miles, ask the guys and gals to do a routine checkup on your hoses, water pump and radiator.

And an FYI – if the thermostat gauge shifts into the Red Zone, pull over and turn off your engine! The Red Zone is not a good place to be! Stay cool!
