Waxing, I’m not talking your legs!

Let’s talk waxing. No, not your legs — I’m talking about your car! Waxing a car might seem like a scary task, especially if it’s your first time. But there is no time like the present to learn a new task and become the car pro I know you can be! Here’s a crash course on waxing your car:

Step 1. It’s important that your car is squeaky clean before your start waxing. You’ll also want to make sure your car is completely dry.

Step 2. The wax is very temperamental, so make sure to wax in the morning or afternoon when it’s a cooler temperature. Stay around 55-85 degrees. It’s best to wax in the garage when you are out of direct sunlight.

Step 3. Now that you have a clean and dry car inside your garage, it’s time to pick out your wax! A cleaner wax can be harsh on the clear coat of your car, so I’d recommend choosing a spray wax that goes on easier. However, the spray wax won’t last as long as the cleaner wax, so choose what’s best for you!

Step 4. Now that you have picked your wax, it’s time to get to work! Place a silver dollar-sized amount on a foam applicator and gently apply to your car. Move in a circular, overlapping motion. Make sure to divide your car into different sections.

Step 5. (Optional) If you have a buffer, then great! Use a high-speed buffer to apply an even coat of wax.

Step 6. Wait for the wax to sit for awhile.

Step 7. To remove the wax and get that shine that you’re looking for, use a microfiber cloth!
