When you become a car owner, there are many things to think about besides the actual car you own. You’ll need to consider car insurance, added features and even security systems. And if you want to take things a step further, you may want to think about roadside assistance or some other type of added automotive security.
Hence, I’ve written up this post about AAA services and how they can benefit you. AAA (usually spoken as “triple A”) is a not-for-profit member service organization that offers their members a variety of benefits, with just a yearly fee of just under $60.
If you’re unfamiliar with AAA, this post will give you the low-down on everything. And if you already know about AAA, you might just learn a few new benefits of the service!
1. Emergency roadside service. This is one of the most well-known perks of AAA. When you have AAA, you also have the confidence of knowing you can be rescued from any situation you might be stranded in! Even if AAA isn’t available whenever your car breaks down, you can get a reimbursement for towing, locksmithing and more.
2. DMV services. If you can’t make it to the DMV (or just dread the thought of waiting in line) you can go to your local AAA branch and have many DMV services taken care of right there. The services available depend on where you live, so just look online to find out what can be done without having to step foot in a place that most people despise!
3. Battery delivery and installation. If your battery dies, it can be a pain to take a different car to pick up a new one or have to track down a friend to give you a ride. With AAA, they’ll deliver you a new batter and install it on the spot! Pretty handy.
4. Discount at auto repair shops. AAA members get an extended warranty on their car, along with a 10 percent discount on any services at auto repair shops. The shop has to be on an approved (andF extensive) list, but you’ll be sure to find one in your area!
5. Fuel delivered to your car. Many drivers push their car to the limit when the tank is on empty, and end up running out of gas. It always seems to be the most inconvenient time and in the most inconvenient place, too! But AAA offers a service where they send someone to deliver you enough gas to get to a nearby gas station and finish filling up. It can be a life-saver!
6. Discounts on entertainment. AAA clearly has a ton of benefits that have to do with your vehicle, but they also offer great deals to their customers outside the bounds of the automotive world. You can get discounts on hotels, movie tickets, restaurants, theme parks, retail shopping, rental cars and vacations — all just by being a AAA member. Score!
7. Drivers training. Parents of teenagers will be happy to hear that AAA provides a drivers training program that includes perks like memberships to auto clubs. They also offer discounts to online driving schools, in case you don’t want to be towing your teen to and from classes!
8. Parking discounts. If you frequently drive in metropolitan areas, you know how rough it can be to find parking. And even if you find a convenient, massive parking garage just full of spots to park, you might not want to break the bank paying their premium rate. Luckily, AAA offers discounts at many major parking areas in cities all over the country.
9. Bike services. So what if you don’t have a car? Well, hopefully those of you out there are still reading this, because AAA has some benefits for you too! Similar to the roadside service, AAA helps out bikers who get a flat tire or other damage to their bike that deems it un-rideable. They often fix the bike or at least give you a ride to your destination. Pretty cool, right?
10. Medical prescription savings. I’ve listed a ton of awesome discounts you can get with your AAA membership, but there’s still more! Strangely enough, AAA offers a savings program on medical prescriptions, no matter what type of insurance you have. Medicine can be pricey, so that’s a welcome discount!
