Getting the best sound from your car

Sound

I’m not sure about everyone else, but I spend a ton of time jamming in my car. I could almost list it as a hobby. There’s nothing better than driving around with the windows down and the music cranked up. However, if your speakers aren’t up to par, then it can, it can take away from some serious fun. Here are a few tips to help you get the best sound in your car without a giant overhaul of your sound system!

Check the level of compression for your music files. One of the easiest ways to boost the sound quality in your car is changing the size of the music file that you’re listening to. Most files are compressed to make as much room as possible. Usually, it will sound fine through headphones when you’re running or at home, but you could be missing some of the body of the song.

Reduce as much noise as possible. Your car is a noisy place, and with the sound from outside, the engine, and then every little rattle and shake, a lot of music can get lost. Try to eliminate as much of the ambient noise as possible with things like Dynamat sound deadening tape.

Replace your speakers. The factory speakers that are in your car are most likely not the best in the marke. Replacing your speakers doesn’t have to be a huge job, you could take care of it in an hour or so and it can drastically change the quality of your music!

Add a subwoofer. Now, I know what you’re thinking, but adding a subwoofer doesn’t mean you have to have a huge box in your trunk that shakes each mailbox as you drive by. A subwoofer can be small and fit under most seats or in other tight places in your car, and can really complement your speaker system.

With just a few simple steps, you could be on your way to a better jam session!
