It’s what is on the inside that counts: don’t just purchase a car for its looks

Inside

There are a thousand things to think about when buying a car, and what it looks like should be low on the priority list. It’s incredibly easy to get caught up in wanting that cute little sports car or sexy American muscle car that you might forget that it may not be the most practical car for you. Here are a few things to check before you buy your next vehicle to make sure that you are picking the right vehicle for the right reasons.

The most obvious is price. The newest and sportiest model often comes with the priciest tag. Consider a used model or an older model of that same car you’ve been drooling over. Also, consider real-world gas mileage. Don’t look at the average city/highway figures that the car manufacturers give you, look at how you drive. If you do more highway driving than city driving, your numbers are going to look very different.

Another thing to check before you buy your dream car, is the amount of cargo space and the seating comfort. If you’re an avid cyclist, that beautiful but small sports car with a limited amount of cargo space is probably not practical. If you’re consistently the designated driver on the various outings with your friends, a car with a small back seat is not going to be as comfortable. Make sure that you’re comfortable with the seating, know what the seats are made out of, and learn how easily they can be cleaned.

Lastly, make sure the ride matches your driving style. If you’re in love with an SUV that has a slower start and you tend to drive with the pedal to the metal, it might not be the right match. Same goes for an aggressive, performance vehicle and a slower driving style, it just doesn’t match.

There are many more things to consider when buying a car, but with the overwhelming amount of cars in the world, there is sure to be a perfect one that has the look and driving style you’re looking for!
