Spring Car Care

Spring is drawing near and I couldn’t be more excited for sunshine and butterflies! Now that we are coming to the end of the rugged winter, it is time to adjust to the new season that is approaching. Making sure your car is properly taken care of is imperative to tackling the changing weather conditions of the season. Here are some car care tips that I suggest you try this spring:

Remove Leftover Salt

  • When the winter snow and ice finally blow over, you want to make sure that you remove the leftover road salt from your car. Leftover salt can cause serious damage to your car, especially to the undercarriage where the metal can rust. The best way to ensure that you eliminate any and all salt is by taking it to a car wash with sprayers that are able to reach and clean your undercarriage.

Inspect/Replace Your Windshield Wipers

  • Double check your windshield wiper blades for any signs of tearing or cracking. During the winter, your windshield wipers are prone to wear dramatically due to ice buildup. You want to make sure that your windshield wipers are functioning properly, because the spring season brings forth a lot of rain!

Check Your Tires

  • Now that your tires have endured the cold air, ice, sleet and snow, they are worn down. Check your tire pressure and make sure that your tires are inflated to the necessary PSI for your car. Double check your tire tread and see if you are in need of a tire replacement. There are easy ways to check the tread of your tires such as the penny method.

Wash and Wax

  • Now that spring is here, it’s time to wash the winter off of your car! A good thorough wash will remove any buildup and debris that is left over from the winter season: including excess road salt (remember it can cause serious damages to your car, including rust!). By washing and waxing your car, you are protecting the paint and finish.
